2021 Volunteers Are Stars Awards

Nova Star Award Nominees

All it takes is one person to make a difference, to change a life, to transform a community. The Nova Star Award recognizes individual volunteers whose contributions to Richmond go above and beyond.

This year's nominees are dedicated and driven. If there's a way they can improve their community, they immediately step up and get down to work. They often take on leadership roles, requiring a greater investment of time and energy. But they keep going, because they know the hours they put in will have a ripple effect, benefiting the entire community.

Every volunteer has an impact. Some volunteers, however, have an impact so significant that it motivates others to get involved. This year's Nova Star nominees are in the latter group, supporting the causes that matter to them, while inspiring others to start their own volunteer journeys.

The following profiles were themselves written by volunteers. Our sincere thanks to Shawn Badesha and Joyce Lai for helping to tell the story of this year's Volunteers Are Stars nominees.
