2021 Volunteers Are Stars Awards

Shooting Star Award Nominees

The Shooting Star Award recognizes outstanding youth volunteers under the age of 25, and this year's nominees all lead by example. Volunteering isn't just something they do; it's who they are. From empowering other young people, to supporting mental health, to creating intergenerational connections, the nominees strengthen their community in different ways, but they share an endless enthusiasm for giving back.

Throughout Richmond, tomorrow's community leaders are already making a difference. They're discovering causes they're passionate about, and supporting them in meaningful ways. This year's Shooting Star nominees are among the most accomplished members of that group, helping to build a future inspired by their own sense of unlimited possibility.

The following profiles were themselves written by volunteers. Our sincere thanks to Shawn Badesha and Joyce Lai for helping to tell the story of this year's Volunteers Are Stars nominees.
